Men's Golf Places Third at Firestorm Fall Invite

Men's Golf will leave the Grand Canyon State with a third place finish at the Firestorm Fall Invitational, hosted by Arizona Christian University. Cade Kiser would lead the Celts, finishing tied for sixth after shooting two over par for the tournament.

St. Thomas would flirt with the lead for the better part of day one. However, Ottawa University and Embry-Riddle would create separation late in the second round. Holding onto third place with 18 holes to play, the Celts would have to weather Benedictine University, who they were tied with heading into the final day. After a combined team score of 292 in round three, St. Thomas would edge the Eagles by one stroke.

Patrick Smetek (9th) would finish the tournament carding three over par, second-best for the Celts. Smetek would lead the pack after day one, shooting even after 36 holes. Finishing third for St. Thomas and 15th overall would be Jonathan Miller. After getting off to a slow start on day one, Miller would shoot even in round three to log a six over par performance. Also putting together his best round of golf on the final day would be Henry Phavorachit. He would score a 74 in round three to lock in a 26th place finish while shooting 14 over. Lastly, Greg Dupont would use a hot-start to fuel himself to a 28th place finish for St. Thomas.

This tournament wraps up the Celts' fall season. They will hit the links again in the spring with their eyes set on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title.
