Ken Echols joined the UST Softball staff in the summer of 2021. Echols comes to the Celts with 16 years of coaching experience. 

He has coached 11 years at the select ball level and has tabbed many successful season. Notably, a 3rd place finish at the Colorado Sparkler, a 7th place finish at the USA 18U Nationals, 10th Place USA Gold Nationals, 1st Place Triple Crown SW Nationals and was even invited to play in Junior Olympic Cup in 2020. All of Echols' players have either gone on to play at the college level or had the opportunity to do such. 

Echols also has experience playing at the high school and collegiate level. He played baseball at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas from 1981-1985. In his four years as a Texan, Echols earned All-District honors and was and All-City Outfielder. He led the district in hitting with a .407 average while dealing on the mound, pitching a 1.47 ERA

Following his high school career, he played baseball briefly for SFA as a walk-on. Echols would graduate with a B.S. in Applied Arts and Sciences, 1992. 

Ken has been married to Karen Echols for 21 years. His stepson Connor is 26 years old, while his daughter Shelby, is the starting shortstop at HBU.  His youngest daughter, Haley, is starting her freshman year at Boston College.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with and learn from Coach Fro" Echols added.  "In the short time she has been with the Celts, she has turned the program into a contender and I am looking forward in seeing what this team can do."
