Black History Month Student-Athlete Spotlight: Trinity Provost

Black History Month Student-Athlete Spotlight: Trinity Provost

Throughout February and beyond, Celt Athletics is excited to celebrate Black History Month by sharing our platform with our black student-athletes and campus community. These individuals are an integral part of our Celt Culture and University, so join us today as we highlight Trinity Provost of Celt Track & Field.

Trinity is a sophomore sprinter from Beaumont, Texas, and received all-SCAC honors last year after winning the 4x100 relay, and second in the 200m dash, all while majoring in Psychology.

Get to Know Trinity:

Trinity chose the University of St. Thomas after being attracted to the community. From the class sizes and athletic department, she cites being able to, "finally fit in and meet her people" at St. Thomas. On top of the challenges of a psychology degree and being a student-athlete, Trinity finds enjoyment within her music, jamming out to 50 Cent and crocheting in her free time. She also adds that the movie The Lorax is her favorite because the songs are catchy and memorable.

As a student-athlete, Trinity also understands younger student-athletes may look up to her and wants them to know to always strive for more and not less. Additionally, she describes her drive to never settle for anything not good for her as a big motivation to constantly improve.

Finally, for Trinity, Black History Month isn't just a month, it's every day! Trinity utilizes her platform as a student-athlete to raise awareness about her culture and inspire others to excel by speaking on relevant issues and providing support. On top of being a captain for her track team, she does this by getting involved with her athletic department. Her responsibilities range from helping with game operations, statistics, and day-to-day office duties to making sure not just her team, but every team at UST is taken care of and can compete at the level she does on the track.

"Trinity is a prime example of what you like to see in every student-athlete," Head Track Coach Jarrick Wright added. "She is involved in various school events and one of the hardest workers we have on the track team."

Catch Trinity and Celt Track and Field in action this season at a meet!
