Women's Track & Field Competes at Howie Ryan Invitational

HOUSTON TX- Women's Track & Feld had a competitive day at the Howie Ryan Invitational as one of the few NCAA Division III programs against a plethora of Division I talent. 

 

In the 60 Yard Dash Prelims, St. Thomas would start off hot with Ny'Cierra Hinton finishing 19th overall with her 8:17 time. Jamaya Coaster would register an 8:31 locking her in at 21st place. Advancing to the semifinals, both Celts would finish in the top 20 as Hinton and Coaster would clock an 8:29 (14th) and 8:47 (19th), respectively 

 

Sophia Delgado would be the only Celt to participate in hurdles, having a strong showing, finishing 23rd with a competitive time of 11.37. 

 

The 200 yard dash would feature three Celts scoring in the top 25. Christina Stinson would lead the way at 19th, clocking a 26.88 time. Ny'Cierra Hinton would trail Stinson at 20th with her performance of 26.95. Finally, Sophia Delgado would log a 27.23 finishing 25th. 

 

The mile run would see all Celts placing within the top 30. Jocelyn Olivarez would finish with a team-best 21st place with a time of 5:37. Right behind her at 22nd was fellow Celt Martina Caridad, posting a 5:47. Ashley Martinez would score 5:49:14 while Samantha Hernandez would finish 27th at 6:00.39. Grace Leduc would land in 29th place overall with her 6:07 performance and rounding out the event for the Celts was Shauncy Ringo who clocked 6:16:12 to finish 30th.
