Women's Track and Field Competes at Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational

Women's Track and Field ran at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational this past Friday afternoon. Despite the rainy conditions, the Celts had some bright spots with few runners setting personal bests. 

Kicking off the sprinting events was the 100m dash. The two Celts competing finished just outside the top ten. Ebonee Nation clocked in at 11th with 12.90 and Ny'Cierra Hinton was right behind at 12th with 12.94. Then in the 200m dash, Kaela Sawyers and Trinity Provost finished 13th and 14th with times of 26.10 and 26.16 respectively. Also competing was Sophia Delgado who checked in at 20th at 28.52. Finally, in the 400m dash, Christina Stinson and Makayla Powell led St. Thomas. Stinson clocked in at 1:00.18 and Powell just behind her at 1:00.82 to lock in 14th and 15th place. Nelsy Vera also ran in the event and set her personal best of 1:04.16. Lastly, in the 100m hurdles, Sophia Delgado finished 14th with a time of 19.12. 

Next was the distance events. In the 800m run, Elizabeth Stepaniak checked in at 16th place at 2:34.76. Following this was the 1500m run which featured Karelann Skinner setting her personal best at 5:16.91. Skinner placed 18th and ahead of seven Division I and II runners. Also in the race was Ana Luna, who finished 5:30.37 for 22nd place. Lastly, in the 3000m run, Ashley Martinez, Sophia Sanchez, and Samantha Hernadez finished sixth, seventh, and eighth. The trio clocked times of 11:14.20, 11:19.55, and 11:21.48 respectively. 

Rounding out the track events for the Celts were the team relays. In the 4x100 relay, Trinity Provost, Ny'Cierra Hinton, Kaela Sawyers, and Ebonee Nation clocked 49.70 to finish second place. Then in the 4x400 relay, the Celts finished in the top five as the foursome of Nelsy Vera, Christina Stinson, Makayla Powell, and Samyia Summers finished 4:14.12. 

In the field events, rounding out the Celts day was Valeria Gonzalez and Nelsy Vera. Gonzalez jumped as far as 4.46m for 15th place and Vera 4.31m for 16th place.
