Provost, Powell and the Celts Dash Competition at Victor Lopez Classic Day 2

Women's Track and Field competed at Day 2 of the Victor Lopez Classic and shined. At the end of the day, St. Thomas had impressive times to sit atop the SCAC.

 

In the women's 200m dash, the day was highlighted by freshman Trinity Provost. Provost ran the event in a speedy 25.82, a time that now puts her atop the SCAC in that event. Makayla Powell was also in the event and ran it 26.23, less than a second behind Provost. Also competing was Nelsy Vera and Samiyah Summers who ran 27.78 and 29.69 respectively.

 

Competing in the 400m dash was Makayla Powell who set her personal best in 59.47. Powell showcased her speed in the event to secure a top 20 finish. Christina Stinson was also in the event and finished 23rd clocking 1:00.72. Then rounding out the competitors for St. Thomas was Nelsy Vera and Samiyah Summers who finished 26th and 27th respectively.

 

Then in the 100m hurdles, Ebonee Nation lowered her SCAC leading time to 15.01, good for 19th place, but against all Division One runners. Nation continued running in the 400m hurdles finishing in 1:12.36. 

 

In the 800m dash, Karelann Skinner set the school record finishing in a fast 2:26.87 and good for 19th place. Then Hailey Perez finished at 23rd with a time of 2:33.54.  

 

In the field events, Claudia Davis led the long-jumping Celts at 5.07m. Davis finished 27th and not far behind was Nelsy Vera and Valeria Gonzalez at 30th and 31st. Vera jumped 4.15 and Gonzalez 3.98.
