Women's Track Continues in Stride at Texas Tech Matador Qualifer

Women's track and field continued in stride at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier. The Celts continued to improve on their previous times, setting many personal bests against Division I, II, and III competition. 

In the 60m dash, two Celts set new marks to beat. NyCierra Hinton locked in a time of 8.17 seconds and Trinity Provost followed at 8.22 seconds. Hinton finished 24th and Provost finished 27th. Mylker Roderique also competed for the Celts and although she didnt beat her previous time, finished 21st, with a time of 8.04, and above all but one Division III runner. 

In the 200m dash, Kaela Sawyers finished 12th place with a time of 25.86 seconds. Makayla Powell was less than a second behind her at 26.52 seconds, finishing 18th overall. Sawyers was the highest-placing Division III runner at the meet. Trinity Provost continued her outstanding meet also in this event, setting another PR. Provost ran the event at 26.77 seconds, good for 23rd place. Behind her was Nelsy Vera who also set her personal best at 27.86 seconds. 

In a long 800m dash, Karelann Skinner showcased her speed and ran the event at 2:33.91, good for 18th overall. 

Then in the 1000m run, the Celts locked in eighth, ninth, and tenth place. Ashley Martinez led all Celts with a time of 3:22.52. Behind her were a pair of freshmen, Hailey Perez and Ana Luna. Perez finished with a time of 3:26.49, and Luna 3:28.41.
