School Records and Freshmen Power Women's Track and Field at Trinity

Women's Track and Field kicked off their outdoor season at the Trinity Invitational. The Celt's day was highlighted by a school record in the 4x100 as St. Thomas shined against Division II, III, and NAIA competition.

In the women's 4x100, the Celts did nothing but showcased their speed. The foursome of Kaela Sawyers, Trinity Provost, Ny'Ceirra Hinton, and Mykler Roderique clocked 48.53. This set the school record and led all Division III schools at the meet. This time gave St. Thomas second place at the event.

In the women's long jump, Claudia Davis cleared 4.77m to finish ninth place. Valeria Gonzales and Nelsy Vera also competed in this event and placed in 15th and 16th place respectively. Gonzales leaped 4.32m and Vera 4.28m.

Then in the dash events, Celt freshman led the way. In the 100m dash, Mykler Roderique topped all Division III runners finishing the event at 12.60, good for a third place finish.

The 200m dash was led by Trinity Provost who finished 3rd place. Provost blazed all but one Division III runner completing the event in 26.47 seconds. Ny'Ceirra Hinton finished sixth place and Makayla Powell finished eighth place as three Celts rounded the top ten.

In the super competitive 400m dash, Makayla Powell locked in eighth place finishing the event at 1:00.10. Samyiah Summers also competed and finished 21st with 1:06.68.

In the distance events, the Celts were led by dual sport athletes. Hailey Perez finished 17th place in the 1500m run, running it in 5:17.10. Right behind her was Ashley Martinez at 19th, Samantha Hernandez at 21st, and Sophia Sanchez at 22nd.

Up next, the Celts head to California for the Occidental Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic! Follow ustcelts.com for all updates!
