DAYTONA BEACH, FL- St. Thomas Spirit Team made history this week with their first-ever appearance at the NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, competing in the highly competitive Division III Pom category. While the Celts didn't advance to the finals, they finished just 0.13 points away from qualifying—an incredibly close margin that speaks volumes about their performance.
Taking the stage on Thursday morning, the team delivered a high-energy, precise routine that showcased their hard work, unity, and school pride. Despite falling just short of the final round, Head Coach Bonds expressed immense pride in what the team accomplished.
"This was our first time competing on a national stage, and to come that close to finals says a lot about our program," the coach said. "The team is naturally a bit disappointed, but I couldn't be prouder of how they performed and represented UST."
Going head-to-head with seasoned programs like Wisconsin-Oshkosh, RPI, and Connors College, UST proved they belong in the national conversation. The experience marks an important foundation for the future of the Spirit program, setting the tone for what's to come.
As the Celts return home, they carry with them more than just scores—they bring back confidence, memories, and motivation for what's next.
