Celts Sweep LeTourneau

HOUSTON, Texas – The University of St. Thomas softball team continued its strong season with a doubleheader sweep over future SCAC opponent LeTourneau. The Celts took both non-conference matchups, improving to 13-7 overall while maintaining their 10-4 record in SCAC play.

Game 1: St. Thomas 3, LeTourneau 0

A dominant pitching performance and timely hitting helped the Celts secure a shutout victory in the opener. Gabby Davila put St. Thomas on the board in the second inning with an infield single that drove in Genesis Mares. The Celts added to their lead in the third when Lindsey Gonzalez delivered an RBI single to left, scoring Chloe Bennett.

In the sixth, Rebecca Archibald tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single, bringing home Delayne Moreno to seal the 3-0 win.

Game 2: St. Thomas 6, LeTourneau 0

The Celts carried their momentum into game two, once again keeping LeTourneau off the scoreboard while capitalizing on key scoring opportunities. Ana Zozaya got things started in the first inning with a two-run single, plating Chloe Bennett and Rebecca Archibald. She struck again in the third with another RBI hit, driving in Jaelyn Simmons to extend the lead to 3-0.

Bennett added an RBI single in the fifth before an LETU defensive miscue in the sixth allowed Maegan Anderson and Simmons to score, making it 6-0. The Celts' pitching staff shut the door to complete the sweep.
