Track Shines at TLU D3 Invite

SEGUIN,TX- St. Thomas women's track and field team put on a dominant showing at the TLU D3 Invite, securing multiple victories, national rankings, and school records.

Alejandra set the tone for the Celts by winning the 5000m in 18:55.04, with Samantha Hernandez and Gizelle Lopez finishing 3rd and 6th overall.

In the jumps, Jakayla Ray delivered a standout performance, placing top 10 in both the long jump and triple jump. She shattered the triple jump school record by over two feet, jumping 9.77m to place 8th overall.

The Women's 4x100m relay team of Quaderta Wilburn, Kaela Sawyers, Trinity Provost, and Nya Hinton continued their dominance, securing their second win of the season. They also lowered their school record to 47.29, a time that currently ranks in the top 5 in the NCAA.

The 100m sprint was a showcase of speed, as Quaderta Wilburn (12.14) picked up her second win of the season, with Kaela Sawyers (12.23) finishing 2nd and Nya Hinton (12.39) placing 3rd—all setting lifetime bests.

Selest Edwards placed 3rd in the 400m, crossing the line in 59.67.

In the 200m, Trinity Provost delivered the performance of the meet, winning the race in 24.64 to lower her school record. Her time is now the fastest in the nation.

The Lady Celts wrapped up the meet with a 2nd-place finish in the 4x400 relay, running 4:08.85.

The Celts will compete at the Trinity Invite in San Antonio on March 28-29, as they continue their push toward national success.
