
HUNTSVILLE,TX- St. Thomas Celts baseball team completed a three-game conference sweep of Schreiner University with an 8-4 victory Saturday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium. The wins improve UST to 13-10 overall and 11-6 in SCAC play.
The Celts set the tone early with a five-run first inning. Dillon McKee delivered a two-run single up the middle to score senior third baseman Jarod Smith and Ryan Ratajczak. Dylan Lamb followed with an RBI double before Gabe Garner and Sam Lampson added run-scoring hits to cap the outburst.
St. Thomas added insurance runs in the third and fifth innings. Garner drove in two more runs to finish 3-for-4 with three RBIs, capping a strong series where he went 7-for-12 with six RBIs.
Schreiner mounted late rallies in the seventh and eighth innings, but the Celts turned three double plays - including a game-ending 6-4-3 turn by sophomore shortstop Eduardo Tamez, junior second baseman AJ Gonzales and McKee - to secure the victory.

The Celts host Houston-Victoria in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at 6 PM at HCU Husky Field before preparing for next weekend's SCAC series.
