
HOUSTON, Texas – The University of St. Thomas softball team earned a dominant 6-0 victory over Schreiner for their SCAC series at home. With the win, the Celts improved to 14-7 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
St. Thomas struck first in the bottom of the third inning when Samantha Crumrin reached on an error by the left fielder, allowing Jaelyn Simmons to score an unearned run and give the Celts a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth, Gabby Davila extended the lead with an RBI double to center field, bringing Savana Henken home to make it 2-0.
The Celts broke the game open in the fifth, starting with an RBI single from Chloe Bennett to score Jaelyn Simmons. Savana Henken followed with an infield single, bringing in Bennett to push the lead to 4-0. An error by Schreiner's shortstop allowed Lindsey Gonzalez to reach first and Henken to score, giving UST a commanding 5-0 advantage.
In the sixth inning, Chloe Bennett capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Jaelyn Simmons to cross home plate and secure the 6-0 shutout victory.
