Men's Track and Field Competes at Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational

Men's Track and Field ran at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational this past Friday afternoon. Against the rain and weather, the Celts showed poise with a few key race highlights in the penultimate meet of the season. 

Starting the results for the Celts were the sprinters. In the 200m dash, St. Thomas had five runners in the race. Victor Davis finished 12th with a time of 22.54, and behind him was teammate Jacolby Mattox who ran a personal best of 23.47 to lock in 20th place. Rounding out the competitors for the Celts were Todd Pierre, Makale Mingo, and Bertran Grant who finished 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. The trio ran the event in 23.74, 24.12, and 24.70 respectively. Lastly in the 400m dash, Bryce McIntyre finished seventh place clocking 49.96 topping 12 Division I runners at the meet. Not far behind was Eduardo Waller who checked in at 16th place with a time of 51.02. Terrance Veal also competed and set his season best at 52.38 to lock in 20th place. 

In the distance events, St. Thomas ran in the 800m and 3000m runs. In the 800m run, Jacob Smith showcased his speed to finish in the top ten. Smith ran the event in a speedy 1:58.91 to lock in ninth place. Jhancarlos Carpio was not far behind at 11th place as he finished at 1:59.23. Lastly, Will Brisco finished 22nd at 2:07.69. In the 3000m run, Marc Mendoza and Hector Solis finished in the top ten running 9:08.38 and 9:13.70 respectively. Then Lucas Wolf and Drew Cunningham finished 11th and 13th clocking 9:19.80 and 9:40.09 each. All four of the runners set their season bests at this meet. 

In team relays, the Celts were featured in the 4x100 and 4x400. In the 4x100, Makale Mingo, Victor Davis, Carlos Cazares, and Jacolby Mattox clocked 43.90 for a third-place finish. Then, the foursome of Eduardo Waller, Bryce McIntyre, Terrence Veal, and Kashala Kapyamba finished fifth in the 4x400 with a time of 3:21.27

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, James Urbina won the race with a new personal best of 9:44.55, which currently puts him second in the SCAC.
