Men's Track & Field Competes in FasTrak Athletix Meet

Men's Track & Field kicked off their second season with their first-ever indoor track meet. The Celts competed at the FasTrk Athletix Meet in Houston, Texas.

 

Bryce McIntyre and Makale Mingo would represent St. Thomas in Men's Long Jump. McIntyre would finish seventh in a field of 40 jumpers, logging a 6.79m jump with his second attempt. Mingo would place just outside the top ten (11th) recording a 6.70m attempt.

 

In the 200 Meter Dash, McIntyre would run a 22.87, placing him 35th overall in an event with over 80 competitors. Eduardo Waller would post a 23.45 time, locking him in with a 55th place finish. Matthew Hicks would land 71st in the field, running a 24.20 for the Celts.

 

In a stacked One Mile Run event, Jhancarlos Caprio would run a personal best, 4:29. In his first collegiate meet, Caprio would place ninth overall. James Urbina would finish just outside the top ten (13th), running a 4:30. While Carlos Hinojosa would log a 4:52 mile time, ranking him 36th overall.

 

Will Brisco would place 23rd overall in the Men's 800 Meter Run. Brisco would be the only Celt in this event, running a 2:11 time.

 

In the highly competitive 60 Meter Dash, Makale Mingo would come up just short of qualifying for the prelims but would place 13th overall in a field of 44 runners. Mingo would run a Celt-best 7.22, locking in a top three finish in his heat. Josiah Akpen would record a 7:46 time, ranking him 32nd overall. Only a few competitors later would be fellow Celt Carlos Cazares who finished 37th overall, running a 7:59 time.
