Men's Track and Field at Texas State Bobcat Invitational

Men's Track and Field ran at the Bobcat Classic this past weekend. Despite running in very little events, the Celts were competitive against many Division One programs.

Kicking things off was the Men's 1500m run. Jhancarlos Carpio led all Celts finishing in 21st place in Section B clocking 4:00.27, topping three Division One runners and two Division Two runners. Also competing was Jacob Smith finishing in 4:18.02 and 22nd in his section.

Continuing the distance action was James Urbina in the 3000m steeplechase. Urbina locked in 10th place out of 22 runners finishing in 9:55.95, ahead of four competitors from SCAC rival Trinity and the second highest SCAC runner in the competition.

In the field events, Matthew Hicks competed in high jump. Hicks cleared a height of exactly 2.00m to qualify for the final, before jumping 1.92m to wrap up his day. Lastly in long jump, Bryce McIntryre set his season best leaping 6.87m to finish in eighth place and ahead of ten Division One jumpers, including four from St. Thomas Minnesota.

Up next, track and field runs and leaps again this week at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational. Follow ustcelts.com for all scores and updates.
