Lucia Rodriguez and the Celts Compete at Day II of ITA Regionals

Day two of the Women's ITA Regionals brought mixed results for the St. Thomas Celts in the doubles category. In the highly competitive Championship Draw, the duo of Anamaria Gonzalez & Karissa Guzman faced a tough challenge against Trinity University, a powerhouse of the tournament. Unfortunately, they fell short with a final score of 8-3, ending their run in the round of 32. Similarly, Lucia Rodriguez & Ella Mullins also found themselves pitted against Trinity University in the Championship Draw, but had a tough outing, losing with a score of 8-0.

However, there was a silver lining in the B draw, where Aimee Tran and Nataly Velasco displayed their skills and determination. They managed to secure a victory with a score of 8-5, earning them a spot in the top 16 of the draw and keeping St. Thomas's hopes alive in this category.

Singles: In the Championship Draw singles matches, Anamaria Gonzalez put up a valiant fight but ultimately lost her match in a nail-biting 15-13 tiebreak in the round of 32, highlighting the intense competition at this stage of the tournament.

In the B draw, Ella Mullins also faced a challenging tiebreak in the round of 16, which ended with a score of 15-13 in favor of her opponent. Unfortunately, Ella couldn't recover in her consolation match and ended her run in this category.

The standout performer of the day for the St. Thomas Celts was Lucia Rodriguez. She displayed remarkable skill and determination, winning her sweet 16 match and her subsequent quarterfinal match. This impressive performance has secured her a place in the final four of the tournament, keeping the hopes of a strong finish for St. Thomas alive.

Overall, Day Two of the Women's ITA Regionals saw a mix of results for St. Thomas, with some tough losses but also a promising advancement to the final four in the singles category by Lucia Rodriguez. The team continues to demonstrate their competitive spirit and dedication in this challenging tournament.
