MARSHALL, Texas – The University of St. Thomas men's tennis team concluded its regular season Sunday with a non-conference match at East Texas Baptist.

The host Tigers defeated UST by a score of 7-2, with the Celts picking up a pair of victories in singles play.

Tyler Head and Carson Steele led the way for the Celts (8-5) in Sunday's competition. They took the most games from their opponents in doubles competition and then won each of their singles matches.

Head had little trouble in the flight one singles match as he defeated Christian Dubec by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Steele recovered from losing his first set 6-0 in flight four to ETBU's Parker Stewart and claimed the victory by winning the final sets 6-4 and 1-0 (10-6).

The duo started the day as UST's pairing in flight one of doubles play, where they fell 8-5 to Dubec and Slade Austin.

The flight two match in the doubles competition saw UST's Jace Ware and Andrew True fight hard in an 8-4 setback to Abraham Silva and Brycen Fears. Ware played the flight two match in singles play and though he took the first set 6-2, ultimately lost to Austin in three sets (2-6, 7-5, 1-0 [10-7]).

The Celts will take part in the postseason Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament that begins Friday, April 29 at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
