HOUSTON,TX- St. Thomas women's basketball team continued their strong season with a 79-61 victory over SCAC rival Trinity, marking the second time they have defeated the Tigers since the 2019-20 season. With this win, the Celts improve to 13-9 overall and 11-4 in conference play.

The game started as a close battle, with multiple ties in the opening minutes. Trinity took a narrow 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, capitalizing on free throws. In the second quarter, the Celts found their rhythm, sparked by back-to-back three-pointers from Kenna Gibson and Audrey Hernandez to tie the game at 24. Hernandez then drilled two more from beyond the arc, while Amyia Bowie's steal helped shift the momentum in favor of St. Thomas. By halftime, the Celts had built a 41-34 lead.

Trinity came out of the break determined to close the gap, cutting the deficit to just 50-48. However, the Celts responded immediately as Ravyn Ellis and Gibson knocked down clutch three-pointers to push the lead back to eight. St. Thomas continued to control the pace, heading into the final quarter with a 62-52 advantage. In the closing minutes, the Celts maintained their composure and kept the Tigers from mounting a comeback, securing the decisive win.

Audrey Hernandez led the charge with 18 points, sinking six three-pointers to power the offense. Amyia Bowie filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Macie Whitfield dominated inside with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Ravyn Ellis contributed 13 points and three assists, and Kenna Gibson added 11 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.
