Celts Surge Past the Tornadoes

HOUSTON,TX- After battling with the Warhawks on Friday, the Celts secured a crucial 71-64 victory over Concordia at home. This advanced the Celts their record to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in conference.

From the tip-off, the Celts displayed their dominance. Ravyn Ellis made an immediate impact, draining two back-to-back three-pointers to give the Celts an early 9-2 lead. Concordia fought back and went on a run to tie the game at 13, but the Celts responded with back-to-back baskets by Nevaeh Kearney and a three-pointer by Ellis, pushing the lead to 20-15. The Celts continued to extend their advantage throughout the first half, both offensively and defensively, heading into halftime with a solid 41-26 lead.

The second half saw the Tornadoes come out strong, quickly closing the gap to 44-33. With a string of three-pointers and defensive stops, Concordia pulled within 46-43, intensifying the pressure on UST. Heading into the final quarter, the score stood at 48-47, with the Celts clinging to a slim one-point lead.

The final quarter was an exciting back-and-forth battle, but the Celts found their rhythm. Ellis hit another three-pointer, and Audrey Hernandez followed up with one of her own, extending the lead to 61-51. With their poise and strong defense in the final four minutes, the Celts sealed the win, maintaining their lead and finishing the game with a 71-64 victory.

Ravyn Ellis led the team with an outstanding performance, finishing with 22 points, including four three-pointers, and contributing two assists and two steals. Audrey Hernandez also made a significant impact, scoring 15 points, including five three-pointers, and adding four rebounds. Amber Bourgeois chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, and one assist in 34 minutes, while Amyia Bowie contributed seven points and a team-high 12 assists, guiding the offense effectively.
