
HOUSTON,TX- St. Thomas Celts took on Centenary College in a home conference matchup. With this win, 93-49, the Celts improved their overall record to 6-9 and leveled their SCAC conference record at 4-4.
The game opened with a flurry of offense from the Celts, who went on an 11-4 run in the first quarter. The momentum only grew as Kenna Gibson nailed a three-pointer and Macie Whitfield followed up with a layup, extending the lead to 32-13. St. Thomas dominated defensively, holding the Lady Gents to just seven points in the second quarter, entering halftime with a commanding 42-20 lead.
The Celts continued to shine in the second half, fueled by defensive efforts, including back-to-back steals. Points from Bowie, Ravyn Ellis, and Amber Bourgeois quickly widened the gap to 59-28. The Celts never looked back, extending their lead to 72-41 by the fourth quarter and holding Centenary to just 49 points overall. A highlight of the game was the scoring depth, as every player on the Celts roster contributed points.
Leading the way for St. Thomas was Amber Bourgeois, who tallied 13 points, five steals, and four assists, showcasing her all-around game. Amyia Bowie matched Bourgeois with 13 points, going a near-perfect 4-for-5 from the field and adding four steals of her own. Ravyn Ellis contributed 12 points in just 10 minutes of play, hitting two three-pointers and going 2-for-2 at the line.
Off the bench, Laura Jones was a standout with 12 points, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, while Kenna Gibson added seven points and grabbed four rebounds. The team's shooting efficiency was on full display, with the Celts shooting 53.3% from the field, including 55% from beyond the arc.
