Celts Fall to ETBU in Second Half Surge

MARSHALL, TX—The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team traveled to East Texas Baptist University, battling hard before falling 70-46 to the Tigers. The Celts now hold a 2-3 record on the season.

The first half saw an intense back-and-forth between the two teams. ETBU started strong, but the Celts quickly demonstrated their determination. A three-pointer by Ravyn Ellis, assisted by Amyia Bowie, brought the score to 5-6 early in the first quarter. The Celts continued to chip away, keeping the game close with a first-quarter score of 11-10.

In the second quarter, the Tigers built momentum and extended their lead. However, St. Thomas refused to back down, mounting a late 6-1 run to close the gap to 28-21 at halftime, showing their grit and tenacity.

The second half proved challenging as the Tigers surged ahead on their home court. ETBU's defense and offensive rhythm limited the Celts' opportunities to close the gap. However, the Celts continued to compete with determination until the final buzzer.

Amyia Bowie led the Celts with 10 points and eight rebounds, pacing the team in both categories. Ravyn Ellis added seven points, four rebounds, and a steal, while Amber Bourgeois also contributed seven points, going a perfect 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. Macie Whitfield added six points and two rebounds.
