
On Friday night, women's basketball picked up their third consecutive SCAC victory against the Austin College Roos. Powered by a monster performance from Ravyn Ellis, the Celts swept Austin College in their season series.
In the first quarter, the Celts and the Roos nearly went point for point. Adding 14 total points, the Celt bench and Ravyn Ellis dominated the period. In 10 minutes of action, Ellis added eight points and the bench scored six. Then in the second quarter, Micayla Hamilton got involved in the offense and scored seven going 3-3 from the floor and 1-1 from the line. Heading into halftime, St. Thomas found themselves with a two-point lead 32-30 over Austin College.
Coming out of the locker room, Austin College had a rough start to the third quarter. Committing five costly turnovers, the Celts were able to capitalize with a 14 point period from seven different point scorers. Finally, in the 4th quarter, Austin College and St. Thomas went point for point, but a strong finish from Ravyn Ellis with 10 points gave way for another Celt victory 63-58.
Offensively, Ravyn Ellis had her career high going for 27 points on the floor. Ellis also shot 90% from the line, 50% from the floor, to go along with a stellar defensive performance with four rebounds and three steals.
