
SHREVEPORT,LA- St. Thomas women's basketball team continued its strong run, defeating Centenary 66-39 in a conference matchup on Saturday. With the victory, the Celts improved to 12-9 overall and 10-4 in conference play, extending their winning streak.
The Celts jumped out early, taking a 12-6 lead in the opening minutes of the game. Centenary rallied briefly, narrowing the gap to 12-10, but St. Thomas quickly regained control. The second quarter saw the Celts increase their intensity, with Macie Whitfield converting a layup and Ravyn Ellis hitting a three-pointer to extend the lead to 25-14. St. Thomas continued to stifle Centenary's offense, holding them to just six points in the second quarter and taking a commanding 31-16 lead into halftime. In the second half, St. Thomas continued to dominate, gradually increasing its lead and securing the 66-39 victory.
Audrey Hernandez led the Celts with a stellar performance, finishing with 15 points and shooting 6-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Whitfield added 8 points and 4 rebounds, while Ellis contributed 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Celts' defense was also key, holding Centenary to just 39 points and forcing 18 turnovers.
