CLARKSVILLE, Ark. — The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team pulled off a thrilling comeback on the road, edging out the University of the Ozarks 57-56. With the win, the Celts improved to 11-9 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
The game started as a back-and-forth battle, with both teams tied at 5-5 early on. However, Ozarks found its rhythm and went on a scoring run, extending its lead to 14-5. St. Thomas responded as Ravyn Ellis hit a key step-back jumper to close the gap to 14-12. Despite the effort, Ozarks held firm and limited the Celts to just five points in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a commanding 36-22 lead.
The third quarter saw the Celts begin their climb back. Led by Nora Aigberadion's strong presence in the paint, St. Thomas chipped away at the deficit. A turnaround jumper by Aigberadion brought the Celts within eight at 38-30, assisted by Amber Bourgeois. The momentum continued as Aigberadion and Amyia Bowie connected again, making it a five-point game at 45-40 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, the Celts found their offensive rhythm. Bowie's layup gave St. Thomas its first lead of the game at 52-50. With under two minutes to play, Aigberadion converted another layup off an assist from Bowie to extend the advantage to 55-53. The Celts added another bucket to go up 57-56, and a last-second shot attempt by Ozarks missed the mark, securing the St. Thomas victory.
Aigberadion led the charge with a perfect shooting night, going 7-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line for a team-high 16 points. Bowie contributed across the board with 10 points, seven assists, and nine rebounds, while Audrey Hernandez knocked down two three-pointers to finish with eight points.
