Celts Dominate the Roos

HOUSTON,TX- St. Thomas women's basketball team put together a strong performance, securing a 65-44 victory over Austin College at home. With the win, the Celts improve to 10-9 overall and 8-4 in conference.

The game began with Austin College taking an early lead. The Roos quickly jumped out to an 8-1 advantage. However, the Celts regrouped after a timeout, and Kenna Gibson sparked the offense with a key three-pointer, followed by a long-range shot from Laura Jones, tying the game at 8-8. The Celts took the lead with a three-pointer from Zoiey Jumawan, making it 11-10 as the first quarter came to a close.

UST extended their lead in the second quarter, but Austin College didn't back down. A three-pointer from Amyia Bowie pushed the lead to 27-20, and the Celts maintained their composure, finishing the half with a 29-22 advantage.

The second half saw the Celts come out strong, pushing their lead to 34-24. The Roos made a push, but back-to-back three-pointers from Audrey Hernandez extended the lead to 45-27, and UST never looked back. The Celts sealed the win with strong defense and offensive execution, ending with a 65-44 scoreline.

Audrey Hernandez led the way for the Celts , finishing with 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting, including 4-for-5 from three-point range. Kenna Gibson contributed 8 points along with 3 assists, while Amber Bourgeois added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Amyia Bowie also made an impact, recording 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists while also playing a key role defensively.
