Women's basketball concluded their regular season on the road at Colorado College. After four hard-fought quarters, the Celts lost 72-42.
Throughout the first quarter, the Celts struggled to generate much offense, only scoring eight points in 10 minutes of action. Making just 22% of their shots, it was hard to match the 24 points put up by Colorado College. However, in the second quarter, it was a different story as the Celts made nearly 50% of their shots and outscored Colorado College 16-13. At halftime, the score was 24 to 40.
In the third quarter, Colorado College only added to their lead and halted any chance at a St. Thomas comeback. Adding 11 points off costly Celt turnovers, the Tigers took control of the game. Their lead held into the end of the game as the Celts fell in their final regular season game 72-42.
Offensively, Ravyn Ellis led with 10 points in the game. In addition, Micayla Hamilton and Amber Bourgeois dished out the team high of two assists each. Jeci Gonzalez got it done on the defensive end with eight rebounds and two steals.
Up next, the Celts will await SCAC results to see if their sixth seed placement holds in the standings. If St. Thomas secures sixth place, they will clinch a spot in the SCAC tournament for the first time in program history. Follow UST athletics for all scores and updates.
