
BEAUMONT, Texas — The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road in an exhibition match against Division I opponent Lamar University, ultimately falling 94-32. Despite the outcome, the game offered the Celts crucial experience and opportunities for growth against high-level competition.
UST showed resilience and determination, especially in the first quarter, keeping the score close early. The Celts responded to Lamar's early lead with a quick surge, highlighted by Joerdan Thomas, who scored 10 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting, including two three-pointers. Amber Bourgeois also had an impressive performance, contributing 8 points, 3 rebounds, and a pair of steals, demonstrating her leadership on both ends of the court.
Kenna Gibson provided a spark off the bench, knocking down a three-pointer and hitting all her free throws to finish with 5 points. Defensively, Amyia Bowie and Ravyn Ellis battled on the boards, combining for 5 rebounds and 3 steals, showing hustle and determination.
