
The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2021-22 All-Conference teams as well as individual awards Saturday evening as three Celts would receive honors. Junior Micayla Hamilton would lead the Celts with a second-team nod, followed by seniors Olivia Anga and Jade Evans, who would receive honorable mention in their final season as Celts.
Hamilton, a native of Richmond, Texas, led the Celts in many statistical categories. Starting all but two games, she played 31.5 minutes per contest. Her points per game at 11.8 would rank tenth in the SCAC, and second for the Celts overall. The junior also would also log a 73.6 percent free throw percentage which would rank fifth in the conference. Defensively, Hamilton would rank third in the SCAC for steals at 1.8. Highlighting her season, would be the matchup against University of Dallas where she would post her best performance with 29 points. She would also shoot 61.1 percent from the floor helping the Celts dismantle the Crusaders 79-57. This would tie her career-high as Hamilton showed promise for future seasons, logging double digit figures in 11 of 19 games.
Anga, a senior from Rosharon, Texas, would be the first of a pair of forwards to receive all conference honorable mentions. Her 12.3 points per game would rank 7th in the SCAC as she would lead the Celts in that category. Anga would also get it done defensively, ranking 7th in rebounds at 7.6. She also tallied a top ten finish in field goal percentage shooting 42 percent on the season. Her efforts would not go unnoticed as she would earn SCAC player of the week on January 10th, averaging 21 points per game and nine rebounds, while shooting 57% from the floor.
Evans, a senior, would also join Anga with SCAC honorable mention, highlighting her career as a Celt. In her final season she would start all games but one, while seeing action in 20 contests. This year Evans would stay consistent and improve on nearly every one of her statistical categories. Like her fellow seniors, she would get things done offensively and defensively. She would place 13th in the conference for rebounds at 6.4, ranking her second on the Celts' roster. Offensively, Evans would shoot nearly 50% from the floor, and average five points per game. In addition, she logged a perfect 100% from the charity stripe in four games throughout the 2021-22 campaign.
