Women's Basketball dropped an exhibition contest to Houston Baptist, 70-48. Despite suffering defeat, there were many bright spots amongst the Celts' performance.
The Celts' bench would outscore the Huskies, 35-33. Newcomer, Adriana Chavez would light it up from behind the arc, going 4-9 en route to a game-high 18 points. Chavez would also lead the team in rebounds with seven and would record a pair of steals. Ce'Briaya Bell would contribute off the bench as well, posting seven points while shooting 66% from the field and nailing three-of-four free throws.
Houston Baptist would open the game with a 12-0 run and would eventually stretch this lead out to 21-points at the conclusion of the period. However, St. Thomas would trade buckets with the Huskies in the second quarter. Back-to-back scores from Adriana Chavez and Alexya Castillo would cut their deficit to 13 and warrant an HBU timeout.
With the final half underway, the Huskies would extend their lead to break all St. Thomas momentum. The Celts would continue to fight till the final buzzer and would even outscore HBU in the fourth quarter, 14-7.
The Celts will return to action on Wednesday, November 17th when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas for another DI exhibition with Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
