Cataline and Spice Headline All-SCAC Volleyball 1st Team

The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has unveiled its all-conference teams for the 2023 Volleyball season. Two Celts headline the list with first-team honors: sophomore outside hitter Audrey Cataline and junior defensive specialist Kara Spice.

Cataline led the offense for UST all season, posting 377 kills to lead the conference. She also showcased her versatility on the defensive end, as she finished second on the team in digs with 412, adding up to 20 double-doubles. She started the season strong with an 18-kill, 17-dig performance in a road matchup against UTD. She followed that with a 26-kill, 21-dig outing against Cal Lutheran. She kept up her strong play through the conference season as well, punctuating conference play with a career-high 28 kills and 25 digs against Texas Lutheran in the Celts' regular-season finale.

Spice anchored the Celts back row all year, leading the conference with a massive 668 digs, including cracking double-figures in every match this season. She opened the season with a 41-dig performance against LeTourneau on opening night and never looked back. Like Cataline, Spice got stronger as the season continued, earning SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors once and capping the regular season with a season-high 47 digs against TLU. In addition to her excellent defensive play all season, she chipped in 31 service aces, tied with Cataline for 18th-most in the SCAC.
