Volleyball Gets Two Conference Wins Against Centenary and Dallas

Volleyball continued SCAC play against Dallas and Centenary. The Celts bounced back by sweeping both opponents to improve their conference record with two wins. 

Centenary

The Celts started the day trading points with the Ladies and runs all the way to 24 points. It was then St. Thomas pulled away with a narrow 26-24 set victory. Then in set two, a 14-4 run from the Celts gave them the advantage to take a commanding 25-15 victory. In the third and final set, Centenary would not go away, and would put St. Thomas in a corner 24-20. Yet, it wasnt enough to keep them alive as Alyssa Ajlouny kickstarted the last four points to take the set 26-24, and the match 3-0.

Dallas

The Crusaders would go on a 5-0 run in the opening set to open the match. The Celts would respond with a 5-0 run of their own to even the score at 5 apiece. From there, neither team was willing to give an inch as they would trade points all the way to the end. With the score even at 23, St. Thomas would show clutch as they would get the last two points to win 25-23. In set two, the Celts a timely 10-6 run midway through the set would secure a 25-17 victory. Then in the third set, it was St. Thomas as they would not give Dallas an inch to win 25-16. 

Offensively, Audrey Cataline and Ashlynne Fitzgerald would lead with 23 and 20 kills respectively. Alaina Lanik would also tag 42 assists. Ally Peters would add 31 Digs and Alyssa Ajlouny would notch six total blocks on the day.

Up next, the Celts continue conference play tomorrow against Austin College.
