Volleyball Wins SCAC Matches Against Centenary and Austin College

Volleyball took two SCAC matches this Friday afternoon against Centenary and Austin College. After the dust settled, the Celts won both matches with scores of 3-1.

Centenary

In an exciting conference matchup, the St. Thomas (Tex.) volleyball team faced off against Centenary (La.) on October 6, 2023, at the Tostengard Activity Center in Seguin, Texas. St. Thomas managed to secure a well-fought victory, winning the match 3-1 (25-17, 25-9, 22-25, 25-19).

  • First Set: St. Thomas set the tone for the match by winning the first set convincingly with a score of 25-17. They displayed excellent offensive and defensive skills, setting the stage for a strong performance.

  • Second Set: The second set continued in the same fashion as St. Thomas dominated once again, winning 25-9. Their solid serves, blocks, and kills kept the momentum firmly in their favor.

  • Third Set: Centenary managed to mount a comeback in the third set, securing a 25-22 victory. They displayed resilience and precision in their play, taking advantage of some opportunities.

  • Fourth Set: St. Thomas showed their determination by bouncing back in the fourth set, winning 25-19. Their teamwork and consistency helped them secure the match victory.

  1. Laynee Beam: Laynee was a powerful force on the court, leading the team with 11 kills. Her impressive attacking skills and contributions at the net earned her 13.0 points in the match.

  2. Trinity Atkins: Trinity showcased her offensive prowess with 11 kills, matching Laynee's performance. Her consistency in attacking was crucial to the team's success, earning her 11.0 points.

  3. Audrey Cataline: Audrey contributed significantly with 7 kills. Her versatility on the court, combined with 2 aces, helped her accumulate 9.0 points in the match.

Austin College

In a thrilling volleyball match held at the Tostengard Activity Center in Seguin, Texas, on October 6, 2023, the St. Thomas (Tex.) team faced off against Austin. St. Thomas emerged victorious, securing a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-17, 25-14, 26-24) in a closely contested battle.
