Volleyball Forces 41 Ties in Match With Austin College

After today's match with Austin College, volleyball fell to 2-4 in the conference. Although the set score was 3-1, the Celts forced 41 ties and 23 lead changes to keep the match competitive.

The Celts and Roos opened the day trading points back and forth. 17 ties came in the first set, but the Celts came out on top 25-22. In the second set, Austin College would go on a 7-1 run midway through the set, the six-point difference was enough to win 25-19, and the score 1-1. In set three, St. Thomas would start on a 5-0 run and force Austin College to play from behind. However, the Roos would tie the score at 22 apiece and go on a 3-1 run to close out the set and win 25-22. Finally, the fourth and final set would see both teams not give each other an inch to the point where the score was 25-25. Austin College would win the match with a score of 28-26 in the last set. 

Paige Havel led the day with 15 kills and 10 block assists. Alaina Lanik tabbed 23 assists across the board, and Ally Peters had 25 digs. 

Up next, Volleyball travels to Colorado for another SCAC Crossover. They will face Trinity, Colorado College, and Schreiner.
