Carpio Leads Celts at NCAA Regional Meet

The St. Thomas (Tex.) Men's Cross Country Team participated in the NCAA West Regional Meet, facing stiff competition from all over the country in the challenging 8k race. The team collectively achieved a 21st-place finish out of 28 teams, showcasing their resilience and determination in a competitive field.

The individual performances within the St. Thomas team were commendable:

  • Jhancarlos Carpio (JR): Jhancarlos led the St. Thomas team with a strong performance, finishing with a time of 26:33.0 and locking in 68th place out of 172 runners.

  • Marc Mendoza (SO): Marc completed the race in 27:31.2, contributing significantly to the team's overall standing at 122nd place.

  • James Urbina (SR): In his final race as a celt, Urbina finished in 27:38.2 and locked in 126th place.

  • Diego Moya (FR): Diego, a freshman, demonstrated his potential with a time of 27:51.1.

  • Drew Cunningham (SO): Drew finished the race in 29:53.4, showing his determination and commitment.

Despite the 21st-place team finish, the individual performances of the St. Thomas (Tex.) Men's Cross Country Team members were commendable. Their dedication and hard work in a competitive environment are a testament to their potential for future success. Fresh off a third place finish at the SCAC meet, with continued effort and teamwork, the Celts have the opportunity to achieve even better results in upcoming races. Congratulations to all the athletes for their performances at the NCAA West Regional Meet, and on a fantastic season.
