Men's Cross Country made their mark at their first-ever NCAA Regional Meet. As Washington had cold conditions, the Celts finished 15th place, ahead of SCAC rival Southwestern on the national stage.
Jhancarlos Carpio capped off an outstanding sophomore season finishing 43rd place out of 162 runners. Carpio ran a time of 25:57:6 in the men's 8k with a stellar pace of 3:15. Behind him at 61st was fellow sophomore James Urbina, who clocked less than a minute behind Carpio at 26:21:8 and a 3:18 pace. From there, veteran leadership and youth led the way for St. Thomas. Senior Lucas Wolf in the last team meet of his career ran 27:09:3 at a pace of 3:24. Then Marc Mendoza showed poise registering a time of 27:30:7. Rounding out the runners for the Celts was Hector Solis. Solis ran a time of 27:42:2 to finish 124th against the field of runners from all over the country.
With the conclusion of this meet, men's cross country wraps up their team season. Should a Celt qualify, it would be individually at the national meet. Follow UST athletics for all further information.
