PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Celts of the University of St. Thomas took second place at dual cross country meet with NCAA Division I Prairie View A&M on Thursday.
UST's Oscar Padilla (SO/Houston, Texas) recorded a top five finish to lead the Celts on Thursday. He finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 29 minutes, 22.01 seconds, good for fifth place at the event.
Michael Skinner (SO/Houston, Texas) also turned in a sub-30 minute finish for the Celts. He came in sixth with a time of 29:52.92
Antonio Mata (SR/Angleton, Texas) and Alexander Guevara (SO/Houston, Texas) were the next Celts across the finish line, taking seventh and eighth places, respectively. Mata completed the course in a time of 33:08.43, while Guevara's time was 33:18.16.
Juan Gonzales (SO/Houston, Texas) rounded out UST's team total, finishing 11th place with time of 35:43.23.
The Celts will have one more meet before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships. UST will compete at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif., on Saturday, Oct. 19.
