Men's Cross Country Ready for SCAC Meet

Men's Cross Country Ready for SCAC Meet

Following their last meet, Men's Cross Country is set up for competition in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet this weekend. The meet will be in Seguin, Texas and will feature every team in the conference with a chance to claim a conference title.

Veteran Trio Leads the Way

The Celts' 2023 season has been anchored by the strong trio of James Urbina, Jhancarlos Carpio, and Marc Mendoza. Since the first event of the season, these three runners have been pushing and finishing near each other at every race. Urbina started strong and hasn't looked back, taking first place at the Celt Opener and earning SCAC Runner of the Week honors in early September. He has also led the Celts at two of their three meets since. Carpio has maintained pace with Urbina throughout the season, highlighted by a third-place finish in the Celt Opener and a time of 25:38.20 in the Celts' most recent meet.

Young Celts Balance the Team

Freshman Diego Moya and sophomore Drew Cunningham have chipped in with consistent performances on the back end of the Celts' roster, giving them a chance to finish well in team competition. They both stepped up in Santa Clara to help the Celts post a balanced score. Moya also posted a 7th place finish at the Celt Opener to start his strong season.

The SCAC Championships this weekend wrap up the men's season. Be sure to follow the website for updates and results!
