Men's Track & Field showed poise as they began their outdoor season, at the highly competitive Trinity Invitational.
St. Thomas would open up with the 100 Meter Dash. Josiah Akpan would place the highest for the Celts at 27th overall, with his time of 11.43. Carlos Cazares would follow at 41st place, with a 11.80 performance.
In the 200 Meter Dash, Matthew Hicks (23.73) would lead St. Thomas with a 39th place finish. Behind him was Andrew Law at 42nd registering a 23.80 followed by Josiah Akpan who would finish the event in 55th place overall, clocking a 24.38.
The 400 Meter Dash would show success for St. Thomas with a top ten finisher. Bryce McIntyre took 10th place at 50.31, less than two seconds behind the top finisher. Behind him would be Matthew Hicks at 28th overall (53.87) and Andrew Law at 36th (56.56).
In the 800 Meter Run, solo Celt, Will Brisco, would showcase his speed to acquire a 2:08:95 time, locking him in at 24th place.
In the ensuing 1500 Meter run, Jhancarlos Carpio would lead the Celts at 7th place, with a stellar time of 4:02:49. James Urbina would trail him at 16th place, clocking a 4:07:59 time. Jaxon Boyd would take 29th overall with his time of 4:19:48, while right behind Boyd would be Lucas Wolf, who finished 30th at 4:20:61.
Jaxon Boyd would have a stellar showing in the 5000 Meter Run finishing in the top five, securing a fifth-place finish with a 16:19:87.
Highlighting field events would be Matthew Hicks in Men's High Jump. Hicks would finish. Within the top three, with an outstanding 1.95m jump.
In Men's Long Jump, Bryce McIntyre led the way at third place with 7.01m score, while finishing in seventh overall would be Makale Mingo with a 6.79m jump. Mingo would also take home ninth place overall in the Men's Triple Jump.
