
Men's track and field had a successful showing at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier. The Celts day was highlighted by many PRs and school bests as they continue to sharpen their skills.
For the sprinters, they had a career day filled with many personal records. Jacolby Mattox capped off a great day in the 60m dash, logging his personal best of 7.16 seconds. Victor Davis tied with him running at the exact same time. However, in the 200m dash, is where Davis shined. Victor ran it in 22.36 seconds, and placing 19th overall against a field of Division I, II, and III competition.
The 400m dash saw the Celts lock in 12th and 13th place by Bryce McIntyre and Eduardo Waller. McIntyre set his personal best running a speedy 49.98 seconds, and Eduardo was right behind him at 50.22 seconds. Next in the 800m dash, Jacob Smith put himself in the top twenty with a time of 2:00.16, logging 19th place overall.
In the distance competitions, star runner Jhancarlos Carpio showcased his speed in the mile, blazing his competition at 4:23:85, good for a fifth-place finish.
The men's 4x400 team also got involved and finished third overall. The foursome of Bryce McIntyre, Terrance Veal, Eduardo Waller, and Mason Wilen ran the event in a time of 3:23.18. This time topped all Division III competition at the meet and shaved a second off their previous time.
