Men’s Track Opens Season at BSC Icebreaker

On Friday, Men's Track and Field sent a group to Birmingham, Alabama to participate in the BSC Icebreaker. In their first indoor track event of the 2023-24 season, UST posted several competitive times against a variety of competition.

Bryce McIntyre led the way with a pair of school records in the 200m and 400m. McIntyre set the school record in the 200m with a time of 22.20, then followed it up with his record-setting time of 49.47 in the 400m. Kashala Kapyamba also ran the 200m with a time of 23.21, while Brence Clase ran the 400m and recorded a time of 51.63.

Head coach Jarrick Wright spoke highly of the team's performance. "Superb performances from our team. We usually do not run until January, and we had 5 personal bests. The 2024 season looks promising."

Men's Track is off for the rest of the semester, but returns for a heavy spring slate. They open the spring portion of their season January 25-26 at the McNeese Invitational in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Follow ustcelts.com for future results and updates.
