KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2024-25 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District teams and coaches Tuesday, recognizing the top men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division.
University of St. Thomas' Angel Johnson was named to the NABC District 10 Second Team, capping off a standout junior season for the Celts.
A Houston, Texas native, Johnson played a pivotal role in leading St. Thomas to a historic season, securing the SCAC Blue Division Regular Season Title, the program's third SCAC Tournament title, and a third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. A First Team All-SCAC selection, Johnson was the Celts' leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points per game on an efficient 49.8 percent shooting. He also showcased his all-around game, ranking third in the SCAC in assists (4.4 per game), first in steals (3.0 per game), and contributing 3.8 rebounds per contest.
Johnson's impact was felt in the postseason as well, helping UST finish with a 26-3 overall record and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. His efforts were instrumental in securing the program's first-ever win in the Division III NCAA Tournament, as the Celts defeated Lewis & Clark in the opening round.
