Men's Basketball hit the century mark for the first time this season after a 102-47 victory over Champion Christian College. The Celts recorded season highs in rebounds (64), assists (24), steals (13) and blocks (7) while cruising to their sixth win of the season.
The entire team would have a piece in the scoring barrage as every Celt to step between the lines would score a bucket for St. Thomas. Leading the Celts in scoring for the first time this season would be Juan Hood who tallied 15 points on 55 percent shooting.
St. Thomas would open the game on a 27-8 run, turning the Tigers over 10 times with full court pressure. Champion Christian would battle back with three minutes remaining, cutting their deficit to just eight. However, the Celts would outscore the Tigers down the stretch by seven points to waltz into the break with a 15-point advantage.
In the second half, St. Thomas would lock in on the defensive end, only surrendering 20 points for the entire frame. They would balloon their lead to thirty after opening the period with 17 unanswered points. The Celts would continue to lay it on the Tigers for the remainder of the half and would walk away with a 55-point win, their largest of the season.
Andrew Nguyen would chip in 13 points off the bench. He would also stuff the stat sheet with four assists and five rebounds. Both recording 12 points apiece while shooting north of 50 percent from the field would be Joshua Sanchez and Adam Kanafani. Andrew Adebo would have his best performance of the season, flirting with a double-double with nine points and eleven rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.
This contest wraps up the Celts non-conference schedule as they kick of SCAC play on Friday, December 10th at Colorado College.
