Offense Shines as Celts Down UDallas

Men's Basketball put together their best offensive performance of the year as they cruise past the University of Dallas, 101-81

The Celts raced out to a 16-5 lead after scoring on their first six possessions. A steal and a dunk from senior, Christian Alaekwe warranted a quick Crusader timeout. UDallas eventually found their stroke and clawed back to the keep the game within reach. However, an offensive clinic by Adam Kanafani extended the Celts lead to nine heading into the half. Kanafani posted 19 points and 6 rebounds. The freshman led all scorers while shooting over 60% from the field and behind the arc.

Yet another fast start on offense propelled the Celts to a 19-point lead early on in the second half. After answering multiple Crusader runs, a three-pointer from Freddie Ricks III created a comfortable 22-point lead. UST never looked back and secured the weekend sweep with a 101-81 victory.

The Celts lit it up tonight from downtown. They put together their best shooting performance of the season which included 16 threes while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Not only did they hit the century mark in tonight's game, but they also had seven players with 8 points or more.

Adam Kanafani led the way for the Celts with a career high 21 points and 8 rebounds. Christian Alaekwe and Juan Hood pitched in 13 points each and Cameron Gims had 11 of his own. Gims also recorded 3 steals and 2 blocks in today's contest. He has recorded at least one block and steal in each game this season.

The Celts improve to 3-1 as they head into their bye week. They will return to action February 5th and 6th as they take on Austin College.
