Brownwood, Texas—The University of St. Thomas men's basketball team traveled to Brownwood, TX, for their first away game of the season. They secured a hard-fought 95-85 victory over Howard Payne University. The Celts remain undefeated with the win, improving to 2-0.

The first half was a brutal back-and-forth, with both teams fighting hard to gain an early advantage. The Celts managed to break away briefly after a powerful dunk by Nicholas Buffalo, who finished with 17 points. The dunk put the Celts ahead 21-16. However, Howard Payne didn't back down. Their defensive intensity, marked by several steals and quick offensive opportunities, allowed them to tie the game at 37-37 going into halftime.
The second half mirrored the first, with both teams trading leads in a game with 11 lead changes. The Celts found their rhythm, with the score tied at 53-53. A key moment came when Reyce Allen made a critical basket, giving the Celts a 64-58 advantage. St. Thomas maintained control of the game from then on and closed with the win.
Nicholas Buffalo led the Celts in scoring 17 points, contributing 5 rebounds. Reyce Allen contributed 15 points while shooting 77.8% from the field. Andrew Adebo followed closely with 14 points, displaying impressive shooting accuracy with 70% from the field, and grabbed 10 rebounds, completing a double-double. Marion Williams also had a solid performance, scoring 12 points, including 3 three-pointers.
