
HOUSTON, TX—The University of St. Thomas Celts continued their dominant season with an 85-59 victory over Austin College. The team improved to 19-1 overall and remained undefeated in conference play.
The Celts came out strong, jumping to a 13-4 lead early in the first half. The Roos responded, narrowing the gap to 18-15 in what became a competitive battle. St. Thomas answered with back-to-back baskets and a clutch three-pointer from Marion Williams to push the lead to 25-18. Austin College fought back again, making it 25-20, but the Celts maintained their momentum. Angel Johnson sank a three-pointer, followed by a layup from Williams, extending the lead to 37-29. St. Thomas closed the half strong, heading into the break with a 42-31 advantage.
The second half saw an exchange of baskets, with the Roos keeping the pressure on and closing the gap to 51-40. However, the Celts refused to back down, applying defensive pressure and steadily extending their lead. Behind a balanced offensive attack and relentless defense, they pulled away for a convincing 85-59 win.
Marion Williams led the charge for the Celts, coming off the bench to deliver a game-high 22 points while shooting 6-for-13 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Angel Johnson was a force on both ends, scoring 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including 3 three-pointers, while also leading the team in rebounds. Andrew Adebo and Charles Gitonga each contributed 8 points, with Adebo also grabbing 5 rebounds and recording two steals.
