
IRVING, Texas – The University of St. Thomas men's basketball program earned high recognition at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, led by Head Coach Anthony Medina, who was named SCAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his tenure. Medina's leadership has propelled the Celts to a remarkable 23-2 record, with an impressive 15-1 mark in SCAC play, securing the Blue Division's top seed for the upcoming SCAC Tournament. Medina's .870 win percentage in league play is the highest in conference history for coaches with five or more years of experience.
The Celts' standout player, Angel Johnson, was named to the All-SCAC First Team for the first time in his career. Johnson has been a pivotal force for St. Thomas this season, showcasing his talents on both ends of the court. His selection reflects his stellar performance, which has helped the Celts remain a dominant force in the SCAC.
Andrew Adebo, a senior forward, was also honored with a spot on the All-SCAC Second Team. Adebo has been a key contributor to St. Thomas' success, providing both offensive and defensive stability throughout the season. Adebo also delivered a clutch game winner to send UST to SCAC Finals.
In addition to the individual honors, St. Thomas freshman Nathan Kongolo earned a well-deserved spot on the All-Freshman Team, joining a select group of players making an immediate impact in their debut season.
Two additional Celts were recognized with Honorable Mention honors: Ricky Altamirano and Marion Williams. Both players have been critical to the team's success, providing steady contributions throughout the season.
With Coach Medina's guidance, the Celts are primed to contend for their third SCAC Tournament Championship in the last five years. They tip off at 2:00 PM today, looking to claim SCAC Tournament and Regular Season Champ.
