KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NABC has announced the 2022-23 NABC Division III All-America Teams. The All-America honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.
When going over the list, Sophomore Guard Calvin Williams IV was named to the NABC All-American Second Team for his outstanding season. He was also named to the NABC First team All-District X.
Calvin Williams IV, a native of Spring, Texas, played and started in all 27 games for the Celts, averaging 15.0 points per game which included a conference-best 17.3 points per game in league play. He is also among leaders in steals at 50, points, and assists at 61. Williams scored in double figures in 14 games during the regular season, and he had eight games where he topped 20 points, including the Feb. 4 game against Dallas where he had a season-high 27 points to lead St. Thomas to a 65-62 come-from-behind victory – a victory that clinched the third consecutive regular season SCAC title for the Celts.
That performance in Week 14 helped the sophomore secure his fourth SCAC Player-of-the-Week honor (the most in the SCAC this season) after having won the honor following Weeks 4, 6 and 10. Williams was a key piece in helping St. Thomas go 16-0 in league play and finish at the top of the NCAA Region X rankings in the regular season.
Then when the Celts made the NCAA Tournament, Calvin helped keep the Celts in contention against East Texas Baptist scoring 24 of the 75 St. Thomas points in 35 minutes of action.
