
In exclusive voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the Celts had five players named to the all-SCAC team.
First Team: Calvin Williams IV
Calvin Williams IV in his first season as a Celt was a force to be reckoned with. Williams played and started in all 25 games and nailed nearly 50% of all his shots. Once conference play began, Williams set his career high three times, and had 14 games in double figures, averaging 15 ppg, good for fourth in SCAC. More specifically, he had eight games above 20 points, with his career high of 27 coming against Dallas. His total 374 points were good for third in the conference. Williams also got his teammates involved with 2.4 APG, which was tenth in the SCAC. Calvin also had a defensive showing with 5.6 RPG, which was ninth in the SCAC, and 2.3 steals per game, good for third overall against SCAC competition. His 37 total steals ranked first in the entire SCAC. Calvin's outstanding performances garnered four SCAC player of the week nods, in weeks 4, 6, 10, and 13.
Second Team: Nick Anderson
Nick Anderson was impressive in his freshman season for the Celts averaging double figures in 23 games of action. His 10.3 PPG was good for 16th overall in the conference. The freshman shot a stellar 48.3 percent from the floor, which ranked 11th in the SCAC. From the line, Anderson nailed 77.3 percent of his shots, ranking eighth in conference. Anderson matched his career high of 27 twice this season, both against SCAC opponents: Colorado College and Texas Lutheran. He also had a showing on the defensive end of the ball. In conference play, Nick grabbed 64 rebounds, had six blocks, and stole 14 balls all categories where he ranks top 30 in. Anderson made big splash earning player of the week honors in week two, where he averaged 20 points per game and 64.9% from the floor. Anderson was also named to the SCAC All-Freshman team.
Third Team: Zack Golaszewski & Joshua Sanchez
Zack Golaszewski capped off his career at St. Thomas starting every SCAC game. Zack's 8.8 points per game ranked him 24th in conference, in addition to reaching double figures in eight SCAC matchups. His career high came against Austin College, where he scored 20 points. Golaszewski was a very consistent shooter, as he shot 50% from the floor, 43% from beyond the arc, and 80 percent from the line. His shooting percentage ranked him ninth in the SCAC, and fifth for free throw shooting percentage. In SCAC play, Zack ranked sixth in three point shooting percentage. He also got his teammates involved with 2.2 assists per game, a category which he ranked 12th in the SCAC, and with 56 total assists on the year, he finished ninth overall. On the defensive end, Golaszewski stole 23 balls, and ranked 23rd in the conference. Zack is the only player in the conference to shoot at least 50% from the floor, above 40% from beyond the arc, and at least 80% from the line.
Joshua Sanchez started all 25 games for St. Thomas and was a key piece in the 16-0 SCAC run. Sanchez ranked first overall in the entire SCAC for assist to turnover ratio of 2.1, getting his teammates involved and securing many possessions for the Celts. Josh's 1.8 assists per game was good for 14th in the conference. Sanchez manned the paint for St. Thomas by securing 92 rebounds, and ranking 29th in the SCAC.
Honorable Mention: Freddie Ricks III
Freddie Ricks III in his fifth year as a St. Thomas Celt did nothing but shine. Ricks averaged double figures with 10.2 ppg (18th in the SCAC) and played in all but one game. He was an all-around player, having an offensive and defensive showing. On the year, he shot 42.9% from the floor (18th in the SCAC), and 37.2% from beyond the arc (10th in the SCAC) and snagged 3.2 rebounds per game. He also stole 31 balls (15th in the SCAC), and dished out 36 total assists as his senior season was capped by the Celts going 16-0 in SCAC play.
No 12 ranked St. Thomas finishes the regular season and SCAC tournament 23-3 and will await word of a possible at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship when selections are announced on Monday.
