UST Concludes the 2025 Season

ROUND ROCK, Texas — The University of St. Thomas Baseball team saw its season come to a close Saturday afternoon in the SCAC Championship Tournament, falling 12-2 to McMurry in an elimination game at Dell Diamond.

The War Hawks jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on a difficult first inning for the Celts that included three hits, four walks, and a throwing error. A two-run single by McMurry's Blake Beach helped spark a five-run frame that gave UST an uphill battle from the start.

The Celts showed life in the third inning when Tyler Mills delivered a two-RBI single to left center, scoring Jarod Smith and Ryan Izaguirre to cut into the deficit at 5-2. However, McMurry continued to apply pressure, tacking on runs in the fifth and sixth before erupting for five more in the seventh to close the door.

Walker Holzhausen took the loss after recording two outs in the opening frame. Mills finished the day 1-for-3 with both of St. Thomas' RBIs, while Smith also went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

With the loss, the Celts wrap up the 2025 season with a 19-20 record, highlighted by a resilient tournament-opening battle against No. 1 seed Trinity that saw UST force extras in an 11-inning classic.

As the program continues to grow, the Celts showed grit and competitive fire throughout the spring—and now look ahead to building on that momentum in 2026.
